Hit-and-Run near West San Marcos Boulevard Left Rider Seriously Injured

SAN MARCOS, CA (July 10, 2023) – Early Thursday morning, a hit-and-run crash on Grand Avenue left a rider hospitalized with major injuries. The collision happened on June 15th, at around 5:30 a.m. at the intersection of Grand Avenue and W. San Marcos Boulevard. Responding deputies discovered a person lying along the roadway after being thrown off a motorcycle. According to the investigators, a pickup truck ran passed a red signal arrow, turning directly into the path of a westbound motorcycle. However, the driver did not pull over to render aid to the rider and fled the scene. Eventually, medical responders arrived and transported the injured motorcyclist to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries. On June 29th, authorities released surveillance photos from the incident. Deputies are now looking for the suspect’s vehicle which was revealed to be a 1995-2000 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck with an extended cab. Additionally, the press release indicated that the truck “have damage to the passenger side door as a result of the collision”.
