Man Killed in Motorcycle Collision near Live Oak Springs Road

BOULEVARD, CA (January 20, 2022) – Early Friday morning, a motorcyclist was killed in a solo-vehicle crash on Old Highway 80.

The fatal incident occurred around 5:35 a.m., near Live Oak Springs Road. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.

According to preliminary reports, the motorcyclist was riding a 2009 Yamaha sport bike east on the highway when suddenly, he lost control.  As a result, he landed on a berm and collided with a utility pole and a tree.

The impact ejected the rider from the bike, consequently causing life-threatening injuries. Paramedics responded and despite life-saving efforts, pronounced the rider dead at the scene.

Investigators say the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time. Although, further circumstances leading up to the collision remain unclear.

At this time, the rider’s identity remains undisclosed and awaiting notification of next of kin.
