Rider Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run Collision near 13th Street West
LANCASTER, CA (December 5, 2022) – Late Sunday night, a motorcyclist was killed and a driver was arrested after a hit-and-run on Avenue I.
The collision happened around 12:30 a.m., near 13th Street West in the city of Lancaster.
According to the report, a southbound BMW sedan made a left turn directly into a path of a westbound motorcyclist. The collision caused the motorcyclist to sustain serious injuries. Meanwhile, the BMW driver immediately fled without rendering aid to the injured victim.
First responders arrived shortly after and transported the rider to a local hospital for treatment. However, officials later pronounced the motorcyclist dead due to the extent of his injuries.
Following the crash, police located and arrested the BMW driver. Investigators said officers located the suspect hiding in the bushes. Officials charged the driver with suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, felony hit-and-run, and DUI.
