Eagle Rock resident and Best Coast's lead singer Bethany Cosentino has been deemed by both mainstream press and indie hipster blogs as the current “It girl” of music and fashion. Very vocal about her love for the West Coast, Cosentino is a perfect representation of the funky, bohemian chic that typifies the classic California girl style, from her ubiquitous sundresses to her tattoo of California.

We got pics of some of the equally stylish hotties who showed up to the Best Coast/Wavves show last night, demonstrating why “we wish they all could be California girls” (please don't sue us, Mike Love…):

California girls can rock what Wavves would call “California Goth” without looking morbid. Chunky black boots, black rimmed glasses, a giant black knit sweater, and a black and white skull scarf to hunker down into means this little “beach goth” can look mysteriously fashionable while still being cozy enough to smoke a clove in the chilly beach-side breeze.

Just like the great melting pot that is Southern Californian culture, California girls are awesome because they can mix and match disparate styles and still look hot. This girl sauntered into the Best Coast show looking decidedly fierce with a furry hat, '50s housewife glasses, red lipstick, a leather jacket, and lot of self-confidence–another trait that California girls posses.

Demure in a sundress and long white sweater, but still edgy with tats and a nose piercing, this pretty lady is a walking testament to the classy, sexy boho chic that other California girls posses.

Looking like a grunged-out 1920s Hollywood starlet, this stylish California girl could be ripped out of the pages of Nylon (or any alternative fashion magazine) or cast as a Lolita-esque club girl in an indie flick.

Effortlessly chic and on-point style-wise with a blue chambray button-up, a preppy striped shirt, and a black hat, the girl above embodies the laid-back fashion philosophy that makes women in California so flawless–despite the fact that many don't spackle on make-up to cover-up apparent flaws.

From her funky long shirt to her ethnic-looking gold necklace to her vibrant smile, this California girl has a quintessential golden glow and a spontaneous glamour that most East Coast locals don't posses.

This model-esque trio caught our eye with their natural cool factor. From the matching denim to the wild, wavy tresses to the varsity jacket/glasses combo, each one of these girls exude a devil-may-care attitude without losing the charm of their innocence and youth–a classic California girl quality.

The last (and probably best) reason why West Coast girls are the best: They aren't afraid to party. Apparently, this girl and her equally attractive friends were hiding cans of 4Loko in the bushes outside the venue. This served as an apt reminder that for most California girls it doesn't matter what you wear. The best California girl accessory is the ability to have unbridled–maybe even illegal–fun.
