Apparently it pays to be grateful, because Cafe Gratitude is expanding. The restaurant famous for delivering its vegan meals with a heavy dose of New Age doctrine is opening its third L.A. outpost in the Arts District downtown. The opening is slated for early 2015. 

The Cafe, which was founded in 2004 in San Francisco, opened its first Los Angeles restaurant in 2011 in Larchmont Village. That was followed a couple of years later by a Venice location. In January of this year the company opened Gracias Madre, a vegan Mexican restaurant (you can read our review of Gracias Madre here).

The downtown location will be housed in One Santa Fe, a huge new mixed use development in the Arts District. The 4,200-square-foot restaurant will be designed by Wendy Haworth, who also designed Gracias Madre (which is gorgeous). It will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and will also have food to-go. 

So is gritty downtown L.A. ready for menu items with names like “trusting” and “inspired,” as well as feel-good questions-of-the-day (“What are you grateful for?”)? Yup, it probably is.
