The Market at the new Santa Monica Place, the totally renovated Frank Gehry-designed Santa Monica mall that reopened (huge crowds, mall food, some slightly better mall food, etc.) in early August, is slowly adding more and more shops to the list of those that will open when the Market does, on March 1st of 2011. Röckenwagner Bakery. Gourmadise School of Sweets and Savories.

And now add Venokado and N'Ice Cream to the list of vendors. This will be the second location for Venokado, the West Hollywood wine shop, and the third for N'Ice Cream, a small batch ice cream shop on Abbot Kinney in Venice. Or maybe two-and-a-half. N'Ice Cream put in a second location in 2009, but it was only about 250 square feet of boardwalk space. Hence the Gelato Golf Cart Delivery Service (pictured above).

N'Ice Cream co-owner Laura Nielson says that the new location will use some of the same design elements at work in Venice, but will be “a more chic version” of the current shops. They'll be making ice creams and gelatos on-site, as they do on Abbot Kinney, and will have the same coffee program as well. “We're ready; we have all the equipment,” said Nielson, promising that if all goes well, they'll add semifreddos to the menu down the line. Too bad we can't all ride golf carts at the mall, shopping bags and ice cream cones in hand. Now that would be fun.
