At the rate he's going, chef Ludo Lefebvre (LudoBites) may never need to open his own restaurant: he can just guest chef at this friends' restaurants. After Akasha Richmond went to the fried chicken dinner that Lefebvre and Eric Greenspan recently put on at Greenspan's Melrose Avenue restaurant The Foundry–Richmond also donated some equipment–she ended up inviting Lefebvre over to her own restaurant to do a variation of the same thing. No battles here (“It's not my style to be competitive,” says Richmond), nor will Richmond fry up any chicken, although she does do a pretty mean version herself. It'll just be a casual gig. A little fried chicken, a little live jazz, and plenty of Richmond's own food to eat with it all.

Next Monday night, March 22nd, Akasha Restaurant will host Lefebvre for one night. Lefebvre's fried chicken will be on the menu, as well as a lengthy list of Richmond's dishes, including Southern-style sides to go with the chicken; snacks like deviled eggs and onion rings with paprika aioli; small plates, such as pulled pork sliders and wild shrimp etouffee; and desserts, like dark chocolate pudding pie and rhubarb brown betty. There will be some pizzas on the menu too.

“I've known Ludo for a long time,” said Richmond about why she and Lefebvre are putting on the ad hoc evening. “I like to collaborate with other people.” This way, Richmond won't need to donate any gear to the cause, nor will she have to trek across town to eat Ludo's chicken (“I'm really obsessed with fried chicken”). Maybe Lefebvre can work his way down Culver City's restaurant row. Ford's Filling Station is only a few doors down, Tender Greens next door to Ben Ford's restaurant; and Fraiche is across the street. Ludo doesn't need a kitchen or a truck, he just needs a tent.
