If you're really good at coordinating your food events, there's another great one this weekend, in addition to, of course, the Gold Standard. The Truckit Fest (@truckitfest) is this Sunday at Union Station. The food truck festival is the first of what will be monthly events, to be held the first Sunday of every month downtown. So if you can't make it this month, there's always April.

As of yesterday, event organizer Phillip Dane said he expects 38 or 40 trucks. Dane, who founded the Melrose Trading Post flea market in 1991 and the (now closed) Dodger stadium flea market, said that trucks were such a huge draw at the Dodger stadium market that he wanted to focus on them in his new project.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. VIP tickets get you in at 10 a.m. There will be 4 live bands, DJ's, some 200 local artists, a rock-climbing wall, the L.A. Kings truck (no, it's not a food truck) and possibly beer and wine as well (as of yesterday, Dane was undecided). Trucks include the Munchie Machine, Crepes Bonaparte, Ahn-Joo, Border Grill, Barbie's Q, the Yummy One, Sweets Truck, Slammin' Sliders, Krazy BBQ, Mandoline Grill, the Greasy Wiener and Komodo. General Admission is $5, V.I.P. is $45 (includes valet parking, a $10 food voucher, early entrance and access to a private lounge where they can order from any truck and have their selections served tableside), and kids under 12 are free.
