New York's Magnolia Bakery is opening a Los Angeles store this fall, according to The Nation's Restaurant News. The bakery, which was started in Greenwich Village in 1996, now has three locations in New York City. (Some people credit Magnolia, which was featured in Sex and the City and The Devil Wears Prada, with starting the current–and seemingly endless–cupcake craze.)

LA blog Blackburn and Sweetzer speculates that the yet-to-be-named location is to be at a former dry cleaners at Orlando and West 3rd Street, near the Beverly Center. Wherever the spot, the bakery will be the first Magnolia shop outside of New York–welcome news for cupcake groupies, who will soon be able to get Magnolia's chocolate buttermilk, red velvet, Hummingbird and Devil's Food cupcakes; as well as layer cakes, icebox cakes, pies, cheesecakes and Whoopi cookies without having to trek to Bleeker Street.
