Woman Killed in Wrong-Way Collision near Fourth Street

FLAGSTAFF, AZ (February 10, 2022) – Friday evening, 25-year-old Monica Heckel was pronounced dead after a DUI accident on Butler Avenue.

The two-vehicle crash happened around 10:00 p.m., near the intersection of Butler Avenue and Fourth Street.

According to the investigators, 37-year-old Joshua Ferrante crossed the center line and collided with another car.

Crews say Heckel, of Phoenix was sitting in the passenger seat of the second vehicle. Due to the impact of the collision, medics pronounced her dead.

Moreover, three other passengers in that car were hospitalized and listed in stable condition.

Police later arrested Ferrante on Saturday morning. However, police did not release any statements about the charges filed against him. Authorities believed that Ferrante was under the influence during the collision.

At this time, the investigation remains underway.
