Female Driver Dead after Fatal Car Accident near Portreto Road

MOSS LANDING, CA (May 11, 2022) – A crash along Highway 1 claimed the life of a woman and left Monica Gonitz and David Ramirez injured.

According to reports, two vehicles collided near Portreto Road.

Investigators claimed that 31-year-old Gonitz from San Jose, was heading north and crossed the double yellow lines for reasons unknown. As a result, Gonitz collided with a second vehicle driven by a 69-year-old woman who died at the scene.

Meanwhile, Gonitz and her passenger, 32-year-old Ramirez of San Jose sustained minor injuries as a result from the impact.

At this time, Monterey County Officials are working to identify the circumstances surrounding the accident. An active investigation is still currently underway.
