Teen Girl Killed in Deadly Accident near O’Hara Drive in Sonora

SONORA, CA (March 16, 2021) – Sunday afternoon on February 28, 17-year-old Molly Burgess, was found dead after a reported accident on Highway 49.

The incident occurred just before 5:30 p.m., near O’Hara Drive. According to reports, a vehicle struck a 17-year-old girl before fleeing the scene.

Upon arrival, emergency crews located the female victim in a nearby ditch with life-threatening injuries. Despite life saving efforts, medics later pronounced her dead on scene.

Authorities have not yet released a description of the vehicle involved. Burgess’ family is requesting information from the perpetrator or any other witnesses to the crash. Additionally, they have set up a GoFundMe account to assist with funds during this tragic time.

An active investigation to determine further details remains ongoing. However, more information will be released to the public once available.
