41-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck in DUI Collision near CR 2260

WOOD COUNTY, TX (September 21, 2023) – Saturday afternoon, Moises Joribio lost his life in a tragic accident involving DUI on Highway 69.

The incident occurred around 3:50 p.m., approximately three miles north of Mineola, near CR 2260.

According to reports, a 25-year-old named Lee was driving northwest in a Ford Explorer when he collided with the rear of a Toyota Camry that had slowed down for traffic ahead.

Emergency responders pronounced the Toyota driver, 41-year-old Joribio, deceased at the scene. Meanwhile, rescue teams transported his passenger, a 29-year-old Jesus Beltran, to a nearby hospital for further medical attention.

Investigators later determined that both occupants of the Toyota were properly restrained in their seat belts at the time of the collision.

After completing their initial investigations, law enforcement officers suspected that the 25-year-old driver of the Ford, Maxwell Lee, was driving under the influence.

Consequently, crews charged him with intoxication manslaughter and subsequently placed him in custody at the Wood County Jail. His bail has been set at $100,000.

Currently, an active investigation is ongoing to gather additional information about the incident. More details will be released once they become available.
