2 Killed after Slamming into Semi-Truck  near La Tuna Canyon Road

LOS ANGELES, CA (May 19, 2022) – A crash on Tujunga left Modesto Talamantes and Thomas Ornelaz dead, Tuesday afternoon.

The crash occurred around 4:30 p.m., on the westbound lanes of the freeway near La Tuna Canyon Road.

Footage from a news helicopter revealed a crushed dark-colored vehicle after apparently hitting the rear of a big-rig.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, the Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed two people dead at the scene. Authorities identified the two occupants of the car, 40-year-old Ornelaz and 51-year-old Talamantes, of San Fernando.

Meanwhile, authorities issued a SigAlert for No.3 and No.4 lanes of the westbound freeway.

At this time, Los Angeles Officials are working to identify further circumstances surrounding the crash.
