Mod Night at The Opera

L.A. Opera went mod Wednesday night for a special event filled with scooters and vinyl. “Mod Night at the Opera” was a swinging shindig inspired by the style of mid-20th century Italy. Local Vespa and Lambretta owners brought their rides into the courtyard for photo ops. Girls and guys turned up in their smartest retro threads and danced as DJs played 45 RPM jams from the era.

The celebration was in honor of Tosca, Puccini's tragic tale of love and sacrifice, which is closing out this season at L.A. Opera. To coincide with the performance, starring soprano Sondra Radvanovsky, L.A. Opera also hosted an art show from Tappan Collective. Called Hidden Harmonies, the group exhibition featured works that explored the motifs used in Tosca.
