That missing 22-year-old woman who was once enrolled at UCLA has been found safe in Merced, Glendale police reported Thursday afternoon. The circumstances behind Nancy Salas' disappearance were not immediately known.

“Nancy Salas has been located,'' said Glendale police Sgt. Tom Lorenz. “She is alive and well. She is in the custody of the Merced Police Department. At this particular time we do not know what the circumstances are surrounding how she got there or why she ended up there. Our detectives have yet to talk to her. The most important thing is that she has been found alive and well.''

Salas was reported missing Wednesday after she went on her morning jog and failed to return to her Glendale home. Nearby Chevy Chase Park was searched.

The story took a strange twist Thursday when UCLA officials reported she had not been enrolled there for nearly two years despite her parents' belief that she was to graduate soon.
