16-Year-Old Boy Killed in Fatal Bike Crash near N Street

OXNARD, CA (October 1, 2021) – Wednesday night, a 16-year-old boy was fatally struck in a bicycle accident on Hemlock Street.

The fatal collision occurred around 8:35 p.m., on Hemlock Street, near N Street. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after receiving multiple dispatch calls.

According to reports, the teen boy was riding west on Hemlock with the right of way. Despite the fact that he was wearing reflective gear and a headlight, he was struck from behind by a westbound vehicle.

After an extensive search, police found the abandoned vehicle near Hemlock Street and Patterson Road. The owner of the vehicle was then identified as the driver involved in the hit-and-run.

The driver was later described as a 39-year-old Oxnard man. However, authorities have not yet released his identity. He was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter.

No further information has been provided. At this time, an active investigation remains ongoing.
