Friday afternoon, LA Times music blog Pop & Hiss reported that long-running Los Angeles punk band Mika Miko was breaking up. “There's no bad blood at all, we're all still really good friends” guitarist Michelle Suarez told the Times' August Brown. “We've just been a band since high school and all of us are ready to move onto different things. We started the band for fun and wanted to end on a positive note.”

It's a shame. The band was, once again, a highlight of this year's FYF Fest, tore through solid, perfectly structured three-minute power bursts while the LA sun shone high in the sky and dust blew across the stage.

One of our favorite songs of this year, in fact, is Mika Miko's “Turkey Sandwich.” Here, have a sandwich.

The silver lining: four musicians now wild in the streets looking for action.
