Given that they've been around since 2003, it's kinda shocking that LA's Mika Miko have released only one proper full-length. Yeah, they've had their cassettes and demos and 7-inches and compilation appearances and their fantastic 666 EP on Post Present Medium. Last year's “Sex Jazz” on Sub Pop was particularly thrilling (as was its B-Side, a cover of Black Flag's “Bastard in Love”).

The band, which sprung from the Valley, just announced the release date for its second album. Called We Be Xuxa (a reference to Xuxa, the Brazilian star?) the album will come out May 5 on Post Present Medium, the label owned by No Age's Dean Spunt. (Still no word on who'll be distributing the label now that Touch and Go bowed out last week, but have an email out …).

The record was mostly recorded by Mike McHugh at the Distillery in Costa Mesa (whose motto is “All Analog Good, All Digital Bad”), a studio that's recorded, among others, the Black Lips and Lightning Bolt, and if any of their mojo was still in the air while Mika was recording, you'll be able to hear it on the tape.

They're starting a tour next week. Dates listed below. We'll post an mp3 when they release one.
