Man Injured After Moped Crash on Flower Street

LOS ANGELES, CA (September 5, 2022) – 30-year-old Miguel Velazquez sustained injuries after a hit-and-run crash on Flower Street.

The incident occurred on August 14th at around 12:35 a.m. near 3rd Street.

According to reports, a blue Mini Cooper was driving down westbound 3rd Street when it collided with Velazquez. Velazquez was riding his moped, having just gotten off work, and was stopped at a red light.

The driver of the Mini Cooper fled the scene without rendering aid to the victim.

Velazquez suffered serious injuries as a result, including a broken wrist, a fractured wrist, and a bruised tailbone. Responding medics then transported him to a local hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, Velasquez’s friends and family set up a GoFundMe page to assist him with his treatment.

At this time, authorities are still looking for the driver, described as a Hispanic or Indian man in his 40s with black hair.

The LAPD is offering a $25,000 reward for details leading to an arrest, and ask anyone with information to call the LAPD Central Traffic Detectives at 213-833-3713.
