Female Bicyclist Seriously Injured in Crash Near McBride Lane

SANTA ROSA, CA (May 22, 2023) – Late Thursday afternoon, a bicycle crash involving Michael Steven Gutierrez left a woman seriously injured. The incident happened at around 5:00 p.m. near the intersection of West Steele Lane and McBride Lane. Based on the initial investigation, the bicyclist and a black Honda were going west on Steele Lane. For reasons currently unknown, the bicyclist swerved into the westbound lane of the traffic as they passed McBride Lane. As a result, the Honda’s left side hit the bicyclist and ejected the female onto the roadway. Paramedics arrived to the site of the collision shortly after and transported the female cyclist to a hospital. Upon arrival, emergency personnel located a female bicyclist suffering from serious injuries. Further investigation revealed that the Honda driver was carrying several large bundles of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. Authorities then conducted a DUI investigation into the driver. However, it was determined that 65-year-old Michael Steven Gutierrez of Santa Rosa was not under the influence during the incident. In the end, officers placed Gutierrez under arrest for possession of narcotics with intent to sell. At this time, the identity of the injured victim remains undisclosed to the public.
