Are iPhone alarms working yet? They'd better be, because you need an alert at 9:00 a.m. sharp this Thursday, January 13th when free (free!) tickets become available for USC's Visions and Voices event featuring authors Michael Pollan of The Omnivore's Dilemma and Eric Schlosser of Fast Food Nation. The intimate discussion will be moderated by L.A.'s own Evan Kleiman, chef/owner of Angeli Caffe and host of KCRW's Good Food. We couldn't dream a better lineup if we tried.

Kleiman tells us this is a rare perfect storm of food gurus. Both Pollan and Schlosser are guiding voices in the world of food trends, agribusiness, nutrition and sustainability. “The two of them don't come together very often in public conversation with each other so it should be pretty great,” Kleiman says.

As for what they'll discuss, Kleiman says, “I'm curious to know if they're hopeful or cynical about the future of system change. Also do they think that the tipping point of mass interest in all things food will tip over into interest in system change from the majority? Where and how can the public best leverage it's interest in change?”

She's also taking your suggestions for what to ask on her Facebook page.

We'd personally like to know what Pollan and Schlosser don't agree on – where they collide politically, if anywhere. Or maybe we just like to stir up trouble. What would you ask?

The event is on Wednesday, February 9th, at 7:00 p.m. at USC's Bovard Auditorium. The link to RSVP can be found on the event's webpage.
