OROVILLE, CA (August 29, 2023) – Thursday evening, Michael Murphy was fatally injured in a motorcycle crash involving an SUV on Fallbrook Avenue. Oroville police responded to the fatal collision shortly before 8:00 p.m. near the intersection of Fallbrook Avenue and Greenville Street. According to reports, Murphy was riding his motorcycle in the area when he ran through a stop sign and was struck by a Jeep. The impact of the collision caused Murphy to sustain serious injuries. Emergency crews arrived at the site of the crash shortly after. There, they found the injured motorcyclist and performed life-saving measures. However, they were unsuccessful. Officials pronounced 40-year-old Michael Murphy dead at the scene. Police do not suspect drugs or alcohol to be a factor in the collision.
