Mother Injured in DUI Accident near Elementary School in Arroyo Grande

ARROYO GRANDE, CA (October 26, 2021) – Authorities arrested Michael Kiss after a hit-and-run crash on South Halcyon Road.

According to reports, the incident occurred just after 8:00 a.m., in a crosswalk on S. Halcyon Road. Dispatchers responded to the scene shortly after.

Police determined that a vehicle struck a mother leading two children across the street. After the impact, the driver attempted to flee from the scene but was later detained on Farroll Avenue.

Later on, officials identified the suspect as Michael Kiss, of Santa Maria. Authorities say he was under the influence of drugs at the time.

Arroyo Grande Officials booked Kiss into SLO County Jail for felony DUI and felony hit-and-run.

Meanwhile, paramedics transported the mother to a local hospital for non life-threatening injuries.
