Man Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Collision near Greenhorn Road

YREKA, CA (October 18, 2022) – Early Wednesday morning, Michael Bailey was fatally struck in a pedestrian crash on Mill Creek Road.

The accident occurred around 3:15 a.m., just south of Greenhorn Road on October 5th.

According to reports, Bailey was lying in or near the area when the driver of a red Nissan pickup-truck struck him.

The driver, Charles Burgess, and his passenger, John Jackson, realized they had hit the pedestrian and pulled over to load him onto the truck before transporting him to Fairchild Medical Center.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, Bailey was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to police, the crash occurred in a mountainous region of Siskiyou County with little to no visibility.

At this time, it is unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, however, officers urge anyone with information to call CHP-Yreka Area, Officer M. Smith at (530)-842-0530.
