Extradition proceedings against former Survivor television producer Bruce Beresford-Redman were underway Thursday morning as authorities in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo filed documents with U.S. authorities for the suspect's return.

TMZ reported that Beresford-Redman sent an email out to friends and supporters asking that the write letters testifying about his good character so that he can argue to authorities that he should remain free as he fights extradition.

CBS 2 News, meanwhile, reported that Beresford-Redman's father showed up at Zabumba, a Palms eatery and nightlife venue owned by the producer's late wife, Saturday night and ended up with a judge's order to “stay away.” He was feared to have been carrying a weapon, although the man denied it to television reporters.

The body Monica Beresford-Redman was found outside the couple's Cancun hotel room in early April, and Bruce Beresford-Redman was immediately put under suspicion. He was ordered to stay in Mexico while authorities investigated, but he slipped back into the U.S. late last month.
