A Metro bus was involved in a dramatic three-vehicle crash near downtown Culver City around 5:45 p.m., according to the L.A. City Fire Department.

“Holy shit!” Tweeted L.A. resident Victor Flores. “Just seen some dude cause an accident then drive into a bus.” KTLA footage showed the nose of a shiny black SUV crumpled into the left side of a two-segment city bus.

Initial reports from the scene indicated that 16 people were hurt, one of them seriously…

… but after further medical analysis, paramedics have downgraded the total number of patients to 12.

One is suffering from serious injuries, and of the remaining 11, only one has declined transport to the hospital, says the latest LAFD alert.

The crash occurred at 9700 West Venice Boulevard, right near the border between Culver City and L.A.'s Palms neighborhood.

However, Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey says “we do believe it to be within the city limits of Los Angeles at this time.”

The bus appears to have been traveling eastbound on Venice when it was hit near the corner of Watseka Avenue.

KTLA is reporting that all lanes in both directions on Venice Boulevard have been shut down. Updates to come as we receive them.
