Female Pedestrian Hospitalized after Collision on North Main Street

PORTERVILLE, CA (March 28, 2022) – Saturday evening, police arrested Melissa Williams after a pedestrian crash on Main Street.

The incident happened in the 1000 block of North Main Street around 8:00 p.m., on March 19th.

Authorities arrived and found a 25-year-old woman injured from a suspected pedestrian crash in the area. Responding officials then performed CPR until the emergency crews arrived and took over.

Shortly after, responding medics rushed the woman to a nearby hospital in critical condition. At this time, the victim’s identity has not been released.

California Highway Patrol eventually arrested the driver, Williams, who veered off the road and struck the victim.

Authorities stated that Williams showed signs of being under the influence of drugs or medication. CHP then arrested and booked her into the Tulare County Jail, holding her on $100,000 bail.

Porterville police continue to investigate the crash and urge anyone with information to call them at 559-782-7400.
