Two Women Killed in Wrong-Way Collision near Ashford Avenue
RIALTO, CA (October 10, 2022) – Thursday, Melissa Jacqueline Castillo and Crystaline Joy Barile Bendo died in a crash on Riverside Avenue.
The incident occurred just before 3:00 a.m., in the 3500 block of North Riverside Avenue near Ashford Avenue on October 6th.
According to reports, Castillo attempted to pass an 18-wheeler semi-truck when she crossed the double yellow line and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, 22-year-old Castillo, from San Bernardino was pronounced dead at the scene.
Medics also transported 31-year-old Bendo, of Palmdale to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center where she later died.
Both directions of the roadway were temporarily shutdown to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.
No further information about the fatal head-on collision on Riverside Avenue is available at this moment.
