We sat down with Jonah Vella during NFT LA after his DJ set at Cameo’s event for Cameo Pass holders, to find out how he went from being a law school dropout in Malta, to a Zouk Vegas Resident DJ.

5 years ago, Jonah was a law student in Malta (the island in Europe). He was 6 months away from graduating, when he decided to take a leap of faith and bet on himself. In May 2017, he dropped out of law school, packed his bags, and went to Las Vegas for the summer to “try to figure out what was next” in his life. Today, April 2022, Jonah lives in Las Vegas, and is one of Zouk Nightclub’s resident DJs for 2022.

“I decided to put happiness first, and pursue something that would allow me to travel the world and be creative. Between 2017-2020, I was traveling with poker players, esports pros, and DJs; producing content for them as a videographer & photographer.”

He shared with us how this DJ project started randomly when he got stuck in Vegas during the lockdown. “We had nothing fun to do; so I taught myself how to DJ, and threw a kitchen rave every weekend with 3 of my friends. As the world reopened, the parties kept getting bigger and bigger.”

In less than a year, Jonah has come a long way, performing at prestigious nightclubs across the US: Marquee New York; Exchange LA; Nightingale, etc. On top of that, Jonah kicked off his 2022 Las Vegas Residency at Zouk Nightclub alongside his friend & mega-star Zedd, with an incredible  performance on New Year’s Eve.

During this year’s NFT week in LA, JONAH was spotted performing at Cameo’s private party for holders of the Cameo Pass NFT. “My friends Nicholas Parasram and Bo Triplett introduced me to Devon Townsend (Cameo co-founder), back in June of last year in Vegas. The funny thing is that no one really knew I was a DJ back then. To be honest, I didn’t even know I was a DJ back then, so we didn’t really talk about it. But we stayed in touch. Fast forward a bit, and I got to DJ at their first Cameo Pass event. It was a lot of fun. I really like the team behind Cameo. We both like to curate fun events and bring like-minded people together so I’m super excited to see what else we can do together. I’ve been very intrigued by the NFT space, and to be able to bridge that with what I’m doing with music, is an awesome opportunity.”
