Update: Sheriff's officials said today she was found safe in the city of Bell late “last night,” and that Ibarra was taken into custody.

Authorities say 17-year-old Mayra Martinez was “taken by force” from South L.A. today, and tonight they issued an amber alert for the man they say did it:

Twenty-nine-year-old Rafael Ibarra, who was behind the wheel of a 1999 green Ford Expedition SUV, California plate 5GBJ226.

Fox 11 News says she was abducted today near Firestone Boulevard and Alameda Street in unincorporated South L.A. City News Service reported it happened about 3:30 p.m.

Fox's report indicated the man knew the girl.

Ibarra is described as 5 feet, 6 inches tall. He was seen wearing a red, long-sleeve shirt and a red hat.

Martinez was described as 5 feet, 2 inches tall. She was seen wearing a brown, yellow and blue dress along with hoop earrings.

Anyone who has seen either person was asked to call sheriff's officials at 323-568-4800.
