Head-On Collision on Highway 41 Results in Fatality

FRESNO, CA (July 23, 2021) – A head-on collision on Highway 41 claimed the life of Matthew Hurst, late Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities responded to the incident where two vehicles collided head-on. Officers arrived to the scene near the Friant off-ramp around 4:30 p.m.

For reasons unknown, Hurst was heading southbound on the highway when he crossed over the center median and into oncoming lanes.

Shortly after, officers arrived and pronounced 50-year-old Matthew Hurst of Fresno, dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the other driver, described as a 56-year-old man received minor injuries from the crash.

However, the circumstances surrounding the head-on collision remain unclear, according to the CHP. At this time, the Fresno Police are still investigating the incident to determine further details.
