Driver Hospitalized and Two-Vehicle Accident near Tubbs Lane

CALISTOGA, CA (February 7, 2022) – 61-year-old Matthew Currier was injured Tuesday morning, in a head-on crash on Highway 29.

According to reports, the collision occurred around 8:45 am, just north of Tubbs Lane near Robert Louis Stevenson State Park.

Officers say the driver of a 2000 Ford Contour sedan entered a curve and crossed into the northbound lane of Highway 29. There, he went directly into the path of a 2020 Freightliner truck.

As a result, the two vehicles collided. Subsequently, the Ford went out of control and headed straight down the road’s north embankment for about 75 feet.

American Medical Response units arrived and transported one male victim to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for further treatment.

Due to the impact of the collision, Currier sustained significant injuries. Meanwhile, the 35-year-old truck driver from Ukiah remained uninjured.

At this time, Calistoga Officials are still currently investigating the incident.
