33-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run Collision near El Camino Avenue

SACRAMENTO, CA (February 7, 2022) – A hit-and-run on Interstate 80 Business claimed the life of Matthew Cody Davis early Thursday morning.

According to the police, officers responded to the incident around 2:40 a.m. in the area of the El Camino Avenue overpass.

Furthermore, upon arrival, they located a second car with significant damage from the incident that “exited the roadway of El Camino and came to rest on an embankment near Business 80”

Afterward, California Highway Patrol officers found the driver of the car in the embankment with major injuries. Due to the impact of the crash, 33-year-old Davis died at the scene despite the life-saving efforts.

Meanwhile, the driver of the unoccupied car fled the area before the authorities arrived.

Sacramento Officials are working to identify the hit-and-run suspect from the I-80 crash. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact them at (916) 808-5471.
