L.A. County will be enforcing a mask mandate for outdoor “mega events” of more than 10,000 people starting Friday.

The county mandate will apply to sports venues such as Dodger Stadium and SoFi Stadium, as well as concert venues such as the Hollywood Bowl and Greek Theater.

Masks may only be removed when eating or drinking and like the other county mask mandates, vaccination status will not matter.

The order reads:

“This Order’s primary intent is to reduce the transmission risk of COVID-19 in the County for all, especially those who are not fully vaccinated and fully vaccinated but immunocompromised persons, in the absence of other protective measures, like physical distancing requirements and capacity limits.”

The order will officially go into effect at 11:59 p.m., Thursday.
