Garfield Avenue Traffic Collision Left 93-Year-Old Woman Dead

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (May 22, 2023) – Thursday afternoon, Mary Margaret Machulda was killed in a car crash on Magnolia Street. The crash happened on May 11th, at around 4:40 p.m. at Magnolia Street and Garfield Avenue intersection. According to reports, a Buick Riviera traveling north on Magnolia turned left onto Garfield Avenue, directly into the path of a southbound Jeep Wrangler. The two vehicles collided and left the driver of the Buick with serious injuries. Officials said the 48-year-old male driver of the Jeep remained at the scene and cooperated with the police. Responding emergency personnel transported the Buick driver to UCI Medical Center, where she succumed to her injuries. Later, the coroner’s office identified the deceased driver as 93-year-old Mary Margaret Machulda of Fountain Valley.
