I don’t know what it is about martinis, music, Pasadena and groups abbreviated C.P. Cal Phil started it all with its “Music, Martinis and the Maestro” series at the stately old Green Hotel, where you can sit around sipping drinks and listening to Victor Vener talk and orchestra members play. And now there’s Camerata Pacifica’s Martini Club series, held at — ooh la-la — the Ritz-Carlton Hotel and Spa. This venture goes a step further, providing a cocktail hour, concert, discussion with the performers and dinner. Today's event features four outstanding musicians — Adrian Spence, Warren Jones, Catherine Leonard and Patricia Mabee — performing Bach’s Flute Sontata in A major, BWV 1032, and Brahms’ Violin Sonata in G major, Op. 78, and answering deep questions like “How do we process sound?” and “What role does musical architecture play?” After a martini or two, who cares? Cocktails at 5 p.m. (no-host bar); dinner after the concert. Ritz-Carlton Hotel, 1401 S. Oak Knoll Ave., Pasadena; Mon., Oct. 23, 6 p.m.; $59.33, $27 concert only. (800) 557-2224.
