Man Pronounced Dead after Semi-Truck Collision on Vernon Street

LONG BEACH, CA (May 18, 2022) – A big-rig crash on Atlantic Avenue claimed the life of 24-year-old Martin Ojeda, Friday evening.

According to reports, the incident happened around 9:12 p.m., in the area of Atlantic Avenue and Vernon Street.

Investigators later revealed that a 2017 Honda Civic traveling southbound on Atlantic made an unsafe lane change and collided with a parked big-rig.

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office later identified the Civic driver as 24-year-old Ojeda, of Long Beach.

At this time, authorities believed that speed and impaired driving played a role in the crash.

Long Beach Officials are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the police at (562) 570-7355. An active investigation is currently underway.
