The carny’s in town again, kiddies — the Electric Daisy Carnival, that is — and, as always, attendees are in for rollicking rides and rhythms of all sorts, from swirling trance drivers and drum & bass bounce-to-the-ounce beatsters to soulful scratch masters, and every kind of dance-music maker in between. There are too many to list, but suffice to say, Daisy’s headlining deck-smith list is pretty mind-blowing: Paul Van Dyk, Moby, Benny Benassi, Christopher Lawrence, Rabbit on the Moon (live), BT, Mark Farina, Collette, Armand Van Helden, Z-Trip, and the list goes on … Expect nonstop bumping about with colorful characters of all sorts: glowing candy ravers, Burning Man–style neohippies and crooked haircut-sporting electro heads. The event also offers real rides and attractions but with sounds and sights like these, who needs ’em? 3939 S. Figueroa St., dwntwn; Sat., June 28, 4 p.m.-4 a.m.; see www.electricdaisycarnival.com/la. Not up for a massive dance attack? We recommend two intimate DJ offerings this week too. At the Room, the Droog dudes bring a techno titan to L.A. for the first time: Martin Landsky (PokerFlat Records), whose trippy tech-house offerings are sure to turn the Hollywood bar on its heels. 1626 N. Cahuenga Blvd., Hlywd.; Sun., June 27, 10 p.m.; see www.myspace.com/Droog_LA. Over at the Mountain Bar, DJs Ben from Part Time Punks/Punky Reggae Party, Filip of Ima Robot and more spin, before, during and after Robot singer Alex Ebert’s new band, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, plus Weave and Crooked Cowboys. 475 Gin Ling Way, Chinatown; Thurs., July 3, 10 p.m.; see pressalcove.humanearmusic.com/h.ear-at-mtn-bar-1/.
