61-Year-Old Woman Killed in Fatal Crash near Overture Drive in Palm Springs

PALM SPRINGS, CA (March 18, 2021) – Tuesday morning, authorities identified 61-year-old Martha Martinez after a rollover accident on Highway 111.

Officers received reports of the collision around 6:45 a.m., on March 16. Emergency crews arrived to the southbound lanes on the highway near Angel Canyon Trail.

Martinez was driving a southbound 1999 Ford Explorer when the car drifted onto the right shoulder and slammed through a cable fence along the road.

As a result of the impact, the Ford overturned before coming to a stop on its wheels in the desert area adjacent to the highway. Investigators say Martha Martinez was not wearing a seat belt, and consequently died on scene.

At this time, California Highway Patrol does not believe that drugs or alcohol played a factor. However, an active investigation remains ongoing.

Once available, more information will be provided to the public.
