Catch Me Bird first took flight when Nahara Kalev and C. Derrick Jones turned their 2004 wedding into a public performance centered on an artistically acrobatic aerial duet with the couple dangling separately, then together, and concluding with Kalev suspended only by Jones' hand … and their mutual trust. Even skeptical members of the media anticipating a Tinseltown publicity stunt were won over by the couple's unfailing sincerity and stunning artistry. Kalev and Jones reprise that duet as part of Iron, named for the traditional sixth anniversary gift and continuing the marriage metaphor. In a world where television has cheapened the word reality, the event promises genuine reality performance, contemporary dance, improvisation and stunning aerial duets, including one using the Ford's twin towers and a preshow teaser at 7 p.m. involving the front of the theater itself.
