Mario Hernandez, 45, Killed in Illegal Street Race Accident in Moreno Valley

MORENO VALLEY, CA (March 18, 2021) – Saturday afternoon, Mario Hernandez was killed, and Jorge Diaz, and Miguel Valdez, were arrested after a street race.

The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m., when Hernandez was crossing Sunnymead Boulevard. A black Jeep Cherokee was racing a blue Chevy Camaro when the Jeep driver, Diaz, struck Hernandez.

Paramedics located Hernandez lying on the road upon arrival. Due to the extent of his condition, he was pronounced dead on scene.

In addition, Diaz did not stop to render aid to the victim. Although, police confirmed that he later contacted them.

Per reports, 20-year-old Jorge Diaz of Moreno Valley, was charged with murder and street racing, while 23-year-old Valdez was charged with vehicular manslaughter and street racing.

Deputies closed Sunnymead between Heacock Street and Back Way for several hours during their investigation. However, the area has since reopened to traffic.
