19-Year-Old Arrested; Victims Injured in Car Crash near Geer Road

TURLOCK, CA (April 7, 2022)Mario Gomez was arrested Friday night, after running a red light and injured people on Monte Vista Avenue.

The incident occurred shortly before 10:20 p.m., near Geer Road on April 2. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.

Based on reports, investigators say 19-year-old Gomez ran a red light before striking another car and causing his vehicle to flip over.

The impact also caused another vehicle to overturn and end up about 350 feet west of Geer Road, blocking the eastbound lanes on Monte Vista Avenue. Meanwhile, the other vehicle ended up blocking the westbound lanes.

Medical personnel treated the victims on scene with minor injuries. Although, authorities have not yet released their identity.

Police said Gomez was displaying objectives signs of being intoxicated, which led to his arrest.

In addition, crews closed both eastbound and westbound traffic of Monte Vista during cleanup and preliminary duties.
