71-Year-Old Man Killed in Hit-and-Run Bicycle Accident near Horse Creek Road

VALLEY CENTER, CA (January 13, 2023) – Saturday night, Mario De Jesus Lucero Orduna was killed in a bicycle accident on Cole Grade Road.

Officers received dispatch calls just north of Horse Creek Road around 5:45 p.m., on December 17th.

For reasons under investigation, the driver of an F series Ford Expedition pickup-truck struck Orduna as he was riding his bicycle on the northbound shoulder.

Upon impact, the Ford driver fled the scene without rendering aid to the cyclist or contacting authorities.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced 71-year-old Orduna dead at the scene.

During preliminary duties, officers located the vehicle’s right head light at the scene. At this time, an active investigation to determine further details is still currently underway. Once available, more information will be provided.
