Last night Marilyn Manson stepped up his call-to-arms with a series of MySpace bulletin incitements that, alleges the Buddyhead website, urge his fans to “kill all journalists that have the cowardice to be anonymous.”

The Buddyhead post identifies the following updates:

Marilyn Manson– kill all journalists that have the cowardice to be anonymous. 1 hour ago from mobile Mood: you are dead.

Marilyn Manson– talk is cheap until we find out where you live. 1 hour ago from mobile Mood: you are dead.

Marilyn Manson– is laughing at how predictable, the cynical make themselves look. 3 minutes ago from mobile – Mood:amused

Subject: a call for war

Body: Unless I say that someone is my friend or an accepted and respected 'writer' , I advise that all so-called writers be greeted at home and confronted with their opinions.

Do not be afraid to express yourself. In all ways imagined.

West Coast Sound, who is a “friend” of Manson on MySpace, has thusfar only been able to find the bulletin posted below, which Camille Dodero at the Village Voice tracked down for us. If anyone reading can find screen shots of the bulletins quoted by Buddyhead, please them to us.

Manson's tirade and borderline-criminal incitements began earlier this week, and arrived on the heels of LA Weekly web editor Erin Broadley's profile of Buddyhead co-founder Travis Keller. In the article, Keller alleges that Manson once asked him to secure cocaine for the goth rocker, that Manson admitted to only knowing one Led Zeppelin song, and that he was worried that Keller would hit on his girlfriend at the time, whose nickname was “Snowflake.”

Although this beef, when viewed from one perspective, seems silly, it becomes something dangerous and criminal when an artist with a large and devoted fanbase urges them to attack journalists (or anyone). Is it any different than an extremist mullah issuing a fatwa? It only takes one unstable follower to take such orders to heart. West Coast Sound urges Manson to retract his call-to-arms before this publicity stunt becomes something else.
