If you wonder where at least some of that fine kush at L.A.-area marijuana dispensaries comes from, we don't.

There has been a rash of busts involving indoor grow houses in the Los Angeles area in recent years, including a three-house take-down yesterday in the San Gabriel Valley. (In the meantime, smaller outdoor operations suffer).

Sheriff's officials today trumpeted Wednesday's take-down, saying that $6 million worth of indoor weed was seized:

Sheriff's narcotics detectives served search warrants an three locations — in the 23000 block of Forest Canyon Drive in Diamond Bar, in the 20900 block of Running Branch Road in Diamond Bar, and in the 17000 block of Glenfold Avenue in unincorporated Hacienda Heights — and came up with 2,000 plants and 20 pounds of cannabis, according to a statement.

The weed was worth $6 million, deputies said:

An elaborate marijuana grow system was discovered …

They alleged that “electricity was being stolen from Southern California Edison (SCE) at all three locations.”

Arrested and booked in lieu of $170,000 bail each: 43-year-old Binh Ly of Rosemead and 45-year-old Thank Chiem of San Jose.
