Ever wonder where marijuana candy comes from? Apparently, authorities have to.

Those confections that give you more than a sugar high are available at quite a few dispensaries in L.A. They call the treats “edibles.” Despite California's medical marijuana law, some cops call them illegal:

During the last Halloween season authorities expressed concern that some of these things could end up in the hands of unknowing trick-or-treaters. (Really now, who would pay good money for this stuff and then give it away to strangers?).

Anyway, over the weekend the L.A. County Sheriff's Department announced that it had busted an operation that made marijuana candy.

Deputies went to the 500 block of Figueroa Drive Saturday, served a search warrant, and took candy from a baby suspects, according to the department.

What they found was a manufacturing-and-sales operation, deputies said in a statement:

Several pounds of marijuana was seized at the location, along with a large amount of homemade “candy” containing marijuana (suckers and chocolate bars), and equipment used in the “candy” manufacturing process.

Two suspects were arrested, but their IDs were withheld because the investigation was still happening, according to the department.

The deputies' reiterated their concern that this stuff could end up in the hands of kids or teens. Because what adult medical marijuana patient sucks on a lolli?
