So the figurehead of the Democratic Party, President Barack Obama, hasn't exactly been kind to the medical marijuana nation, what with all the federal raids on dispensaries and all.

While Obama's flip-flopping on pot has some weed activists burning mad, one group of cannabis supporters in California is saying if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

That's right, the recently formed Brownie Mary Democratic Club (really) will be organizing voters …

… in Riverside next week.

And not just any voters, but pro-pot voters.

On Aug. 9 the Brownie Mary Democratic Club will be signing up supporters at the Riverside County Registrar of Voters, 2724 Gateway Dr., Riverside.

The group claims to be “the first cannabis interest club ever to be affiliated with a major political party” when it joined up with the Riverside Dems in June.

So far 32 people are down for this green party. Lanny Swerdlow, the group's founder:

The most recent Gallop, Rasmussen and Angus-Reid polls agree that the majority of Americans now support the legalization of marijuana. The quickest way that is going to happen is through our political party system and the Democrats are the party that can and will do it.
