Couple Dead; Eugene Roebuck Arrested after DUI Crash near McKinley Avenue

FRESNO, CA (September 8, 2022) – Saturday, a suspected DUI accident on Highway 99 took the lives of Mariano Cruz and Emily Ochoa-Ascencio.

The fatal incident was reported just before 5:00 a.m., near McKinley Avenue.

According to investigators, 21-year-old Eugene Roebuck was driving a vehicle when he abruptly changed lanes on Highway 99. As a result, he collided with a Mitsubishi driven by 20-year-old Mariano Cruz along with his passenger 18-year-old Emily Ochoa-Ascencio.

Officials state that both occupants inside the Mitsubishi died at the scene.

Meanwhile, medical responders transported Roebuck to Community Regional Medical Center. Officials later determined that Roebuck was under the influence, and booked him into Fresno County Jail.
