Multiple Injured in 6-Car Collision in Clovis; DUI Driver Arrested

CLOVIS, CA (May 11, 2021) – Authorities arrested Mariana Ramirez Saturday after causing a multi-vehicle accident on Shaw Avenue.

Emergency crews responded to the scene around 1:38 p.m., at East Shaw and Sunnyside Avenue.

Upon arrival, responders discovered the wreckage and transported at least one person to a nearby hospital. Although, their identity has not yet been given.

Meanwhile, the other victims involved in the crash complained about the pain they sustained from the impact. Their identities have not yet been provided.

The surrounding area near Shaw Avenue was closed during cleanup and preliminary duties. But, the roadway has since reopened since the multi-vehicle accident.

An investigation later revealed that 27-year-old Ramirez was under the influence at the time of the collision. Clovis authorities booked Mariana Ramirez to Fresno County Jail for suspicion of DUI with injuries.

No further information has been released to the public at this time.
